Managing Director (New York & Connecticut)Melissa Callahan-Whelan is the Managing Director of Pediatric Therapeutic Services’ expansion into New York and Connecticut. Previously she served as the program manager for Saint Joseph’s Medical Center’s School – Based Therapy Program, and as a clinical manager of occupational and physical therapy services At TheraCare of NY.
Melissa’s occupational therapy career is highlighted by dedication to maximizing organizational efficiency and empowering team members to succeed. Her search for a more innovative and effective approach to the management of school-based therapy lead her to PTS.
She has become known as an expert in the NYC area on topics related to both early intervention and school-based therapies, and she regularly presents on sensory integration, behavior management, development of graphomotor skills, motor development, and the scope and function of occupational therapy in school systems.
Ms. Callahan-Whelan holds certifications in the administration and scoring of the SIPT, as well as the Interactive Metronome (IM™). Ms. Callahan-Whelan is an active member of the New York State Occupational Therapy Association and is the current chairperson of the Metro New York District of NYSOTA executive board.
